Mental Health Awareness
The Goal
Proceeds from the 2021 Fore the Kids Golf Tournament support Children’s Mercy to address the growing mental health crisis in our community in a comprehensive, lasting way that impacts children’s health now and in the future. With identified strategies and key priorities, Children’s Mercy is building a strong mental health infrastructure that includes evaluating needs such as a community-wide behavioral health navigation program, expanding outpatient behavioral health via telemedicine or other digital solutions and furthering plans to meet patients and families where they are with expanded dedicated outpatient, partial hospitalization services. Fore the Kids is proud to be the hospital’s mental health champion in the community to advance these initiatives. In addition, Fore the Kids continues to support The Children’s Place of Kansas City and the Blue Valley Education Foundation.

Nick’s Voice
Nick was 14-years-old when he first realized he was depressed. He was 22-years-old when he took his life. When a child enters the early stages of depression they might have no idea what is going on. They know something is not right, but they just don’t understand what it is. It could take years for them to realize they are depressed, or it could take just a few short days.

Established in 2017, the Nick’s Voice Fund is dedicated to educating our community about the signs, treatment, and therapy related to depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders affecting the mental health of our children. The goal of this fund is to create a dramatic effect on the suicide rates in the Kansas City area by passionately and compassionately providing resources to insure healthy and fulfilling lives for our future generations.

Partnering with the Automobile Dealers of Greater Kansas City, the Fore the Kids Foundation purchased 3 new ambulances for Children’s Mercy in 2015 and 2016.
